After all these years of working in the field without a licence, why do you want your electrical license now?
John:
I am tried of being overlooked for promotions and having to walk away from jobs that I could easily handle if I were licensed and could pull the required permits. At this point in my career I want to be in control of when I work, where I work and how much I make.
Dave:
What do you need to do to get your electrical license?
John:
Well, I have the field experience I need to qualify to take the exam. To get my license I need to prepare for and pass my electrical exam.
Dave:
With all of your years of field experience, why do you need to prepare for the exam?
John:
While field experience is invaluable, it does not automatically guarantee that I’ll be able to answer the questions I’ll face on this exam.
Dave:
Do you know what kind of questions will be on the exam?
John:
I know that I am going to have to find answers to questions in my code book by using keywords or phrases to find the code articles that answer the questions. I am also going to have to answer math related questions that will require the use of formulas that I am not familiar with. And since the exam is timed I am going to have to answer enough questions correctly to get a passing score before my time runs out.
Dave:
So, how are you going to prepare to pass your electrical exam?
John:
